About Carthage

The Carthage community is built around the success of our industry, the beauty of our historic homes, and the majestic splendor of our 1800’s courthouse. Carthage is recognized for its abundance of art and cultural activities, and is also known for our nationally recognized Midwest Gathering of the Artists festival, held every September. Carthage is also home to Precious Moments Park, the one-of-a-kind inspirational attraction known throughout the world. Carthage boasts two renowned museums, including the Civil War Museum and the Powers Museum, known state-wide for its local and national exhibits. Carthage is also known for its many Victorian homes, several of which are listed on the National Historic Registry.
